About the Accessibility Centre
The Accessibility Centre is a rights-based initiative established to promote accessibility and inclusion across digital platforms, information systems, public services and the built environment.
The Centre has been initiated by a group of professionals with disabilities who bring lived experience, technical expertise and practical understanding of accessibility barriers encountered in everyday interactions with public and private institutions.
The Accessibility Centre is currently in the process of applying for registration under relevant laws to operate as a legal entity.
Its work is grounded in constitutional guarantees, international human rights standards and principles of equality, dignity and non-discrimination.
Our Vission
Creation of a society in which all people can exercise their constitutional rights and fundamental freedoms on an equal basis with others, through the removal of physical, digital, informational and attitudinal barriers to accessibility and inclusion.
Mandate
The mandate of the Accessibility Centre is to promote accessibility as a rights-based obligation across public and private systems. The Centre works to identify barriers, support accessible practices and contribute to informed institutional and policy responses.
Its Mandate Includes
- Advancing digital accessibility in websites, documents, platforms and online services
- Supporting access to information in usable and accessible formats
- Promoting accessibility in the built environment and public service delivery
- Encouraging inclusive participation in civic, social and institutional processes
- Contributing to policy, legal and standards-based discussions on accessibility
- Strengthening capacity through guidance, training and technical support
